Mini Red Rock Relay Recap!

We made it.  We did it.  186 miles. 34 hours.  I am one tired chica my friends!  I can't believe how tired this race made me!  I think it was the lack of sleep, not the running that was so tough!  So with that, this will be a quick recap to wet your appetite for more!  So many details to share but I wanted to get a few pictures out to preview all the fun!

Here's our team of 12 at the early morning, 6 a.m. start.  Top row:  Lisa, Caralee, Melanie, Robynn, Nora, Angela and Amy. Bottom row:  Me, Callie (my sister), Sheri, Emily and Lisa

This is Amy, me and Callie coming down on the ski lift from sending our first runner off the top of the mountain!  A ride I'll never forget!  I'm not a skiier or snowboarder - I totally white-knuckled the back bar holding on the whole way down!  My little sister thought I was such a baby.  Whatever...

We are awaiting our first runner that is coming down the mountain - it was 25 degrees at the start.  That's Callie and I wrapped in the orange sleeping bag.  Talk about fighting over who had more blanket on their side... : )

You'd think I had just won the race but it was just my first hand off on my first leg.  I was so excited to get going out on the road!  Turned out to be a beautiful and perfect day for running.

That's all you get for now.  I'll be putting together the full recap today.  It's gonna be great!

So for Tunesday my sister hooked me up with the perfect song.  The Distance by Cake...  We certainly went the distance over the weekend - and the guy running in the video is perfect - our version was a little different but parralls perfectly!  Enjoy - and standby for the indepth recap - full of all the crazy stories and mishaps.  So great!

P.S. My foot was awesome!  No problems whatsoever with the foot!  Thanks for your happy thoughts and prayers - I definitely felt them.  If you don't mind, I need a few more... I strained/pulled my hamstring during one of my legs over the weekend.  I've been to therapy and doing all I can to save it for this weekend.  Crazy... but optimistic it will be fine for the race on Saturday!

  3. Congrats on finishing the relay. Don't know about you but that was the coolest race I've ever been a part of. The "Snow" routes Rocked and I sympathized with those on the "Sun" routes.

  5. Great job, and glad to hear that the foot held up. The more I read relay recaps the more fun/interesting they look. I may need to look into one of these once I get through my race.

  7. Can't wait to hear more. Seems like getting a runner off on the top of a ski area would be fun.
