My name is Dawn and I am a busy mom of 5 beautiful children and a wife to a very patient husband; all who constantly keep me on my toes.
I began running after I had my second baby as a way to lose baby weight and get back into shape. A friend got me running and convinced me to sign up for a marathon. I did it and hated it. Pouted for the whole 4 hour car ride home. But...I couldn't go out like that so I tried again a second time and that's when I realized I loved to run. Ever since then, I've tried to run a couple of marathons in between pregnancies to stay fit. Running isn't only a way to great fitness, it has helped me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. It is a time to call my own, regroup, settle down, think of nothing, think of everything, and sweat it out! Some call it a runner's high. I guess that's what it is and I love it! More importantly, I want to share with my children and with as many people as I can that living a healthy lifestyle is important. Doing a little each day will have a long term, positive impact on our lives. I know there is always going to be laundry to do, errands to run, something to clean. An hour or so a day is not going to change that so why not get a workout in?....Don't have to ask me twice.
This blog is meant to do a few things...
1. Follow my journey during my goal of running 12 marathons in 12 months. I'm excited and know it will be something that challenges and pushes me. It will be a big accomplishment and I look forward to it! Wish me luck...
2. Share my training schedule and tips as I prepare for each race. Also share with you what helped and what didn't.
3. Promote and motivate others to take up running or some form of exercise to begin their journey towards and maintaing an active lifestyle.
